Acceptable Use Policy

Last updated: September 18, 2026 · Effective: September 21, 2026

1. Purpose

This Acceptable Use Policy ("AUP") sets the rules for using VM Hunter. It is part of the Terms of Service and applies to every account, API key and person using the Service on your behalf. VM Hunter analyses calls that you place; you remain responsible for those calls.

2. Lawful calling

You may use the Service only with calls that are lawful where you are and where the person you call is. You must:

  • Comply with telemarketing, autodialer and robocall laws, including the U.S. Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA) and Telemarketing Sales Rule, Canada's Unsolicited Telecommunications Rules and CASL, the UK PECR, the EU ePrivacy rules, and equivalent laws elsewhere.
  • Hold any consent those laws require before calling, and honour national and internal do-not-call lists and opt-out requests.
  • Respect call-abandonment and "safe harbour" rules. Answering machine detection adds a short delay before a live person is connected; you are responsible for configuring your dialer, abandonment rate and any required recorded message so that you stay compliant.
  • Transmit accurate caller identification. Caller ID spoofing intended to defraud, harm or mislead is prohibited.
  • Give any notice and obtain any consent that call-recording, wiretapping or privacy law requires for the opening seconds of the call to be analysed and recorded, including in all-party-consent jurisdictions, or switch recording storage off for your account.
  • Follow calling-hours restrictions and sector rules that apply to you (for example debt collection, healthcare, financial services, political calling).

3. Prohibited uses

You may not use the Service to, or to help anyone:

  • run scams, phishing, vishing, impersonation, harassment, threats or any fraudulent or deceptive campaign;
  • call emergency services, or lines where automated calling is prohibited;
  • target people on the basis of protected characteristics in a way that is unlawful, or call children;
  • send audio you have no right to send, or audio from calls that are not yours;
  • identify, profile or track the people you call beyond what detection requires;
  • build, train or benchmark a competing detection product using our results, models or client software;
  • resell, sublicense or white-label the Service without a written agreement with us.

4. Technical rules

  • Keep API keys secret. Do not share a key between unrelated businesses or publish it in code or client bundles.
  • Stay within your plan's monthly allowance, calls-per-second and concurrent-call limits. Do not rotate accounts or keys to avoid limits or to extend the Free plan.
  • Do not probe, scan, load-test or attempt to breach the Service without our written permission. Coordinate planned load tests with us in advance.
  • Do not interfere with other customers' use, send malformed or malicious traffic, or attempt to access data that is not yours.
  • Send only the audio needed for detection: the far-end audio of the first seconds of an answered call.

5. Monitoring and enforcement

We do not listen to your calls as a matter of course, but we may review account activity, results, transcripts and audio samples to investigate suspected violations, security incidents or complaints, and to support you. If we reasonably believe this AUP is being breached we may throttle traffic, deactivate API keys, suspend or close the account, and cooperate with regulators, carriers and law enforcement. Where practical we will contact you first. Fees are not refunded for accounts closed for breach.

6. Reporting abuse

If you believe someone is using VM Hunter in violation of this policy, or you have received unwanted calls from one of our customers, email support@vmhunter.com with the date, time and the numbers involved. We cannot remove your number from a caller's list, but we will investigate the account.

7. Changes

We may update this AUP as laws and abuse patterns change. Material changes are notified as described in the Terms of Service.
