# VM Hunter > AI answering machine detection (AMD) for outbound dialers. VM Hunter listens to the first two seconds after a call is answered and tells the dialer whether it reached a live person, voicemail, an IVR, a disconnected number or a call-screening prompt. It decides from what is said (a transcript of the opening seconds) plus tone and silence analysis, and returns a HUMAN or MACHINE verdict with a reason about two seconds after answer. Company: PILOTLAB LLC dba VM Hunter, Las Vegas, Nevada, United States. Support: support@vmhunter.com. ## What it does - Verdict (AMDSTATUS) of HUMAN or MACHINE, with a reason (AMDCAUSE): voicemail wording, beep, static, SIT tone (disconnected number), initial silence, no audio, or CALLGUARD_PHRASE for call screening (iPhone iOS 26 Ask Reason for Calling, Google Call Screen, call blockers). - Typical time to verdict: about 2 seconds after answer; listens up to 3 seconds if the callee is still talking. - Every analysed call is logged with its transcript, reason and a short audio sample; customers can delete recordings or turn storage off. - Integrations: VICIdial and Asterisk (EAGI client), FreeSWITCH (Lua script, mod_audio_fork or mod_audio_stream), Twilio Media Streams (bridge, beta), and a WebSocket API for any other dialer or voice AI agent. Clients are open source (MIT) at https://github.com/vmhunterhq. - Audio format: 8 kHz 16-bit mono PCM over a WebSocket; one connection per call. ## Pricing - Free plan: 5,000 calls a month, no card. - Paid plans from $100 a month (Nano, 100K calls). Starter: 3M calls a month, 50 calls per second, 550 channels. Professional: 5M calls, 100 CPS, 1,200 channels. Enterprise by contact. - Billing is per call analysed.
